Since 2014, Westmount has acquired over 5 million square feet of multi-tenant warehouse and light industrial property in the Chicago marketplace among 48 buildings.  Many are located in close proximity to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, a very geographically desirable area without vacant land and new construction limited to the replacement of existing buildings. Most recently, Westmount acquired a 2.35 million square foot industrial portfolio in the greater Chicago area.  In 2016, a Chicago-area industrial portfolio of 1.48 million square feet was acquired, and prior to that, in 2014, another industrial portfolio was purchased in the region totaling 1.53 million square feet. Chicago’s industrial market remains one of the healthiest U.S. industrial markets at only 6% vacant fueled by an expanded economy and shortage of industrial supply.

The Chicago portfolio is comprised of well-maintained buildings of varying sizes and designs.  Westmount is able to leverage leasing opportunities among the portfolio for tenants’ needs for growth, change of location, and other variables.  Westmount is expanding its local area property management office into a regional office in Chicago to serve the needs of the portfolio, providing operational efficiencies and synergy of market intelligence and leasing deal flow, ultimately increasing occupancy significantly.
