We recently teamed up with the Real Estate Club at UT Dallas for an immersive deep dive into the world of institutional real estate. The event offered students a unique opportunity to move beyond the classroom and engage with industry professionals on the mechanics of high-level asset management and financial modeling.
Sam Abitzen, Senior Analyst – Commercial Asset Management, opened the session by breaking down the fundamentals of institutional investing and providing a comprehensive overview of the asset management function. By sharing a candid look at his day-to-day responsibilities, Sam gave students a firsthand perspective on how institutional portfolios are managed and optimized in a real-world environment.
The session moved to a hands-on workshop for the second half as Andrew Nguyen, Intern – Commercial Asset Management, led an interactive walkthrough of a live Excel model. This technical deep dive demonstrated how data truly comes to life by translating complex underwriting into actionable investment strategies.
At Westmount, we believe that investing in future talent is vital for the continued growth of the CRE industry. We are proud to support the sharp talent at The University of Texas at Dallas as they prepare to lead the next wave of commercial real estate innovation.
